CBSE said on Friday that it had not taken any decision on the CBSE Class 12 board exams 2021 yet. As many still wait for the CBSE date sheet 2021, students have been calling for a cancellation of the exams in view of the current Covid-19 situation.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced on Friday that it had not taken a decision yet on the CBSE Class 12 board exams 2021. Even as many wait for the CBSE date sheet 2021, thousands of students and parents have been pushing for the cancellation of the CBSE 12th board exams in light of the current Covid-19 situation.
“It is clarified that no such decision (cancellation of exams) has been taken regarding class 12 board examination, as being speculated. Any decision taken in this matter will be officially communicated to the public,” a senior CBSE official said as per PTI.
The official was responding to a query regarding whether the CBSE Class 12 board exams 2021 may be cancelled.
Meanwhile, a senior education ministry official told TOI that the CBSE 12th board exams may be scrapped and CSBE would review the situation and “probably would have to work out an alternative assessment scheme for the Class 12 students.”
After a long wait, on April 14, CBSE announced the decision to cancel the CBSE 10th board exams 2021 and postpone the CBSE Class 12 board exams after a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This year, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the CBSE board exams which are conducted in February-March every year were scheduled to be held from May 4.
However, the sudden surge in Covid-19 cases in the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic made CBSE rethink the situation and decide to review the chance conducting the CBSE Class 12 board exams 2021 after June 1. The board said that students would get a 15-day notice period before the exams were conducted.
Earlier in May, CBSE announced the alternative marking and assessment scheme for the CBSE Class 10 students whose board exams were cancelled due to Covid-19.
As per the policy, while 20 marks for each subject will be for internal assessment as every year, 80 marks will be calculated on basis of the students’ performance in various tests or exams throughout the year.
After the dip in Covid-19 cases at the end of last year, schools had started to reopen from October 2020. They had been closed for physical classes since March 2020 due to the pandemic and the national lockdown.
However, physical classes have been suspended in most states again due to the rise of cases in the second wave of the pandemic.
Last year, the CBSE board exams had to be postponed mid-way in March. They were later cancelled and the results were announced based on an alternative assessment scheme.
With 3.43 lakh people testing positive for coronavirus in a day, India’s COVID-19 tally of cases climbed to 2,40,46,809, while the death toll rose to 2,62,317 with 4,000 fresh fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

CBSE Board Exams won’t get conducted this year. As all the students get promoted based on their internal assessments scores, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank stated. However the Government have even taken their decision to postpone the 12th examinations till May 30. The Board will take their final decision and rule out a revised schedule on June 1st.
The meeting adjouned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many other high level authorities present there. This meeting made attended by Pokhriyal, Education Secretary, and other government officials. The meeting said that the Board Exams for Class Xth to held from May 4th to June 14th, 2021, will cancel. Besides, the result of the Class Xth Board will based on an objective criterion. These are to develop by the Board. Any candidate who is not satisfied by the achieving marks by him/her remains allowed to sit for the exams. Besides, this can only happen when conditions are conducive to hold exams. Before the start of any exams, a new notice will rule out before 15 days.
However, the decision taken in the view of surge of cases throughout India. States like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Delhi are facing a rise in covid cases over the months. Therefore, the death tool have reached to The death toll increased to 1,72,085 with 1,027 new fatalities. However, this is the highest number that India has seen over October 18th.
Notably like the other states, Maharashtra have already decided to postpone the exams.
